Canon uncovers PowerShot S100 and SX40 HS high-finish point-and-shoots (Engadget)
Today, we have got a set of Canon point-and-shoots to inform you. The S100 may be the
successor towards the highly regarded as S95, as the SX40 HS assumes the super-
zoom market using its 35x lens. Both cameras make use of the company’s new DIGIC 5
image processor, that can bring high-speed burst shooting and 1080p video towards the
party. The S100 features enhanced low-light performance because of its f/2.
lens and new, bigger 12.1 megapixel CMOS censor (gone may be the CCD of yore). It
also offers a Gps navigation receiver for embedding location data inside your photos. The SX40,
pretty much, slaps the brand new processor and sensor into last year’s somewhat
disappointing SX30 IS. Hopefully, individuals internal upgrades will solve a number of
the SX line’s issues with image quality and noise. Both cameras will definitely cost
$430, using the S100 set to ship at the begining of November and also the SX 40 HS at the end of
