Whenever the battery drops below a certain percentage from full charge, a linear charger automatically kicks in to make sure that you are never caught out on the water with a dead battery. Unfortunately they are not waterproof, requiring waterproof containers if they are kept permanently on-board. Electronic chargers are fully waterproofed and work well with marine batteries, however they must be manually started as they do not monitor a batteries energy levels.
Set a budget that you can stick to that is realistic. Low amp chargers require a longer time to charge batteries but are more affordable, making them better for casual usage or seasonal charging. High amp chargers charge much faster but are also much more expensive.
