Private Practice Makes A Point … Finally ;)

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE Private Practice. And Grey’s Anatomy. I digress, however, Private Practice has finally made a very, very good point for the LGBTQ community.

The issue concerns an older woman who has had a stroke, and won’t move to Florida with her son who doesn’t want her to be alone. She is what I have heard called an “Invisible Lesbian”, e.g. a woman from the 50’s or 60’s who did what you were supposed to do. It was all good in the end. Here’s a link to After Ellen, with a warning for spoilers if you’re a fan who hasn’t caught up on last week’s episode yet.

Private Practice and its counterpart Grey’s Anatomy have done a great job at marketing to the LGBTQ community, and I think it’s great that a variety of struggles are being highlighted on popular TV shows. It’s a step towards normalcy. Normalcy is good.
