Grim Reaper Can No Longer Reap
By Chris Atwood • Jan 18th, 2009 • Category: Current Affairs, The LeadI read about this Canadian man who has been nicknamed “The Grim Reaper” because he infects people with HIV on purpose. This is the worst nightmare not only for any health department or CDC, but also for many people. We all know how this disease has ravaged people, some we know. Even somebody in my family who I never had the opportunity to meet.
He has confessed to enjoying the act of infecting people, which I believe is dispicable. He ran around for 8 years infecting others so he could continue to have unprotected sex without putting others at what he considered further risk.
I am glad he is in custody, and that in Vancouver there is now legal precedent for punishment of intentional infection / transmission of the HIV virus. I know the majority of HIV transmissions are done by unknown parties, just like most sexually transmitted infections are; however, but if you know you have it, and you put somebody else at risk, that is unacceptable and you should pay for it.
The story is here, and I’m out.
